Updates to the ACAC Direction: provision of services under pandemic restrictions

Dear Colleagues,

With the province-wide increase in COVID cases and newly announced Public Health orders, the ACAC reviewed and proposed revisions to the ACAC Direction: provision of services under pandemic restrictions.

Last week, the ACAC Council reviewed and approved the revised requirements as they support members in continuing to provide safe care under the current pandemic environment.

These requirements are effective immediately.

Review the revised requirements

Please note, all revised directions are marked with a highlighted “REVISED” tag in the table of contents and throughout the document.

Requirements:

  • Revised
    • Active screening
    • Chiropractor/clinical staff use of masks
    • Patient use of masks
    • Managing exposure to symptomatic patients
    • Exclusion from work for COVID-19

With decreased contact tracing and a high COVID-19 disease load in the environment, there is increased risk that patients may develop symptoms of COVID-19 or enter your clinic when symptomatic. You must not triage the patient and continue to provide care.

Regardless of whether a patient is a known case of COVID-19 or another upper respiratory infection, you are well advised to have symptomatic patients leave the clinic environment and advise the patient to contact 811 for further instruction.

After reviewing these changes and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

Regards,

Dr. Todd Halowski
Registrar, ACAC
